Hyderabadi Khatti dal

The word “Khatti” literally translates to sour and “Dal” means lentils, thus “Khatti Dal” means a sour lentil curry. The tanginess of the curry comes from the generous use of tomatoes and tamarind. Along with these, ginger, garlic, green chillies, curry leaves & spices are used to adjust the tanginess with a touch of spiciness. This hot & sour lentil preparation is one of the most famous household delicacies of Hyderabad region and is served alongside hot steamed rice or chapatis.

Baghaar-e-baingan

Baghaar-e-baingan also known as Nune Vankaya in Telugu, is a sweet & spicy authentic Hyderabadi eggplant curry usually served with Biriyani. “Baingan” in Urdu means eggplants, which is the main ingredient of this dish. Tamarind, garlic, peanuts and sesame seeds, are added to give it the perfect balance. 

Hyderabadi Burani Raita

Burani raita also known as garlic raita & Hyderabadi raita is a garlic yoghourt preparation generally served with Hyderabadi Biriyani. You can use it as an accompaniment to any rice dish. It is also spiced up with cumin & chilli powder. Its slight spicy & tangy taste makes it the best companion with rich Hyderabadi dishes.
