Winters are just around the corner. They bring in a unique sense of comfort and coziness. We bring in changes to our apparel and skincare routine, but it would benefit us to make changes to our diet that would enhance our well-being. Here is a list of dishes that you could include for the upcoming season.

Vegetable Soup

Who does not love a hot bowl of soup in chilly weather? Soups are one of the most comforting foods in winter. They not only bring warmth and comfort but also becomes a source of nutrition and energy.

Spices

We all know that spices are a very important addition to all our Indian dishes and a very integrated part of our culture. But the benefits of spices are not just limited to the flavors they bring but also the health benefits. Mustard, Asafoetida (Hing), Black Pepper, Fenugreek, Ajwain, and Suva (dill) are all spices that can build warmth on those cold days. 

Fresh & Dried Fruits

Dry fruits are known for the heat energy they provide and thus make sense to be consumed in winter or in colder temperatures. They are packed with nutrients like fiber, iron, magnesium, calcium, and vitamins. They will keep you warm, and provide energy over a longer period of time.

Vegetables

  • Sweet potatoes are a winter delight. Though they have higher sugar content than our regular potatoes they are a huge source of beta-carotene, Vitamin A, and Vitamin C.
  • Cauliflower and broccoli are your immunity boosters and help you fight winter ailments. They both are a great source of Vitamin C providing immunity against colds and coughs.
  • Winter is a good time to get a variety of rooted vegetables like turnips, carrots, and onions, beetroots, radishes, etc. These veggies are readily available in winter providing immunity and are a source of warmth.

Winters in India are rejoiced since they give you a break from the year-round heat. At the same time, it is good to be prepared so that it does not affect your health.
